The class was called to order and we quickly got into the role of things with our new warm up regime. I felt a little more comfortable with doing a dive roll and attacking. The juniors were getting the hang of break falls and the senseis enjoyed adding a bit of detail to our rolls.
We did a bit of bag-work and soon I broke a sweat. The combos the sensei gave us were short and forceful and with each strike I saw my partner lose his balance a bit which was good feedback for me.
We broke up into our groups and I tackled the key-ring with my partner. Here I have to apologise and correct myself. I mentioned earlier that the knife had a small part in the 5th kuy syllabus, but I was mistaking, it is indeed the key ring with the knife taking up most of the syllabus. We had some fun with the key-ring none the less and I added a bit of force to my strikes with the key-ring since I have lots of credit in the bank thanks to the tooth incident.
We ended off the night with some news about the next course. The next course will focus mainly on using the walking stick or cane as a weapon. These courses are open to the public and I strongly recommend it to any and all interested. I will inform you as soon as more information becomes available, but we are looking at doing the course late in October at Emerantia dam in Johannesburg.
Embrace the shadows.
