Electric Tuesday

I had a rough day yesterday, job hunting isn’t for the faint of heart. I didn’t eat as well as I normally do and I didn’t have my shake on time. I ended up rushing in everything just before I went to class. I was a bit concerned that I might not have enough energy to perform as well as I normally do and with the added stress of Job hunting the whole day, I felt a headache coming on.

The Dojo was quite a bit colder than last week and only six students braved the cold floor for the plank. The floor was too cold to relax on so I lifted myself of the ground immediately. I am quite strong in my mid section and a few extra seconds suspended by my forearms and toes didn’t worry me much.

After warm ups and stretches we did body conditioning. My training partner has a bout of flu so I had to train with a 9th kyu student. He didn’t really hit me at all and the Sensei intermittent strikes to my midsection was my only challenge, needless to say I let my Uke have it when it was my turn, I think he got the message. My forearm was slightly bruised this morning and my wife even remarked that I haven’t been bruised for a while. I smiled and told her how hard I was hitting the other guy.

We went on to bag work and as we started I felt like I was about to take off with energy. I had to keep hitting the bag even when the Sensei didn’t count to stop myself from swinging my arms like a mad man. After bag work, I dropped for push ups while the others went for water. Slow focused push ups I found works the best and the last three should burn your pectoral muscles. I didn’t count, but it felt good when I finally got back up exhausted and dripping.

Lucky for me another 6th kyu student decided to join us after a long absence. He was my Uke and we went through the 6th kyu syllabus. I felt a lot more confident and executed all the moves with grace and vigour, even the Sensei lifted his eyebrows as I improvised a bit on some of the moves.

It was an awesome lesson, Thank you NinjaSA!!
Embrace the shadows.
