Enter the Ninja

I trained in my new black Gi Last night. It was like the whole atmosphere changed in the class. All my moves were a bit sharper and all my take downs were a bit snappier. I have become a black killing machine and I liked it.

The class had a fair attendance, about 10 students. All the usual suspects were there and our two black belt candidates seems recommitted to grading at the end of the year. I wasn’t the only student that wore a black Gi, The one black belt student also invested in this awesome ninja transformation device.

And so it came to pass that we proceeded to bag work, but not before we did our stretches and a bit of hand eye coordination exercises in the form of pointing fast into our opponents chests while he attempted to block the lightning fast assault attempted at his harem. We also did this while not looking directly at the opponent as if in a multiple situation. It was quite interesting to see how fast we have become in such a short period of time and how important scamming your opponent has become in order to remain unpredictable and touch his chest.

After a couple of drills on the bag we did a bit of free flow for 30 seconds on the bag and it quickly became apparent how taxing 30 seconds of punching becomes, but we are fit and do our dojo proud.

We then formed into our groups and did syllabus work. We did escapes for strangle holds, elbow manipulation and escapes from rear chokes. 6th kyu is starting to form in my head, but I think it would be a good idea to have an extra class in a couple of weeks with the Sensei to go through the whole of 6th kyu and make sure we have all the ducks in a row.
